Washington Adventist University sponsors eight men's and women's sports teams that compete as members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Men's intercollegiate teams include basketball, cross country, and soccer. Women's intercollegiate teams include basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, and volleyball. In addition, an Acro-Airs team is sponsored but does not compete within the NAIA

WAU Womens Soccer defeated Mid-Atlantic Christian University Sunday afternoon by a final score of 4-3. It was MACUโ€™s inaugural womenโ€™s soccer game for the new program.

The squad was led by Dayana Yanez who scored two Penalty Kicks. Ashley Reyes Guevara scored a goal assisted by Mirieda Castillo. Dulce recorded a goal assisted by Ashley Reyes Guevara.

With the win it secures a spot in the history books as Head Coach Alla Stepanovโ€™s first career win! The Shock are 1-0 and have some time before they travel to Raleigh, NC to face William Peace University next Sunday.

We are thrilled and excited to welcome Alla Stepanov as our Head Womenโ€™s Soccer Coach.The Baltimore native comes with experience including leading The Catholic High School of Baltimore girls soccer team to multiple championship appearances and two titles. In 2024 she was named Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) Soccer Coach of the Year. This past year she was inducted into Notre Dame of Maryland Universityโ€™s Hall of Fame for Soccer & Tennis.

โ€œIโ€™m incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the Shock Womenโ€™s Soccer program and to help develop good humans both on and off the field. Iโ€™m excited to build a culture rooted in inclusion, integrity, and growth, while creating a program that competes at a high level. Most importantly, I want to build something that our players, Washington Adventist University, and the Takoma Park community can be proud of.โ€ - Alla Stepanov
