Forging Onward: Honoring the Leaders Before Us
Before Talladega College had a 22nd President, it was shaped by leaders who believed in its future.
Rev. Henry E. Brown (1867–1870) laid the foundation, arriving with his family to educate and build, including the construction of Foster Hall.
Albert Safford (1870–1876) strengthened the College through tireless fundraising and the creation of Stone Hall.
Edward Lorde (1877–1878) expanded the campus itself, securing the land that still defines Talladega College today.
Their courage, commitment, and complexity forged the path we continue to walk. As we prepare to celebrate the Investiture of Dr. Willie L. Todd, Jr., 22nd President of Talladega College, we honor the leaders who made this moment possible.
