Center for Academic Retention & Enhancement

Center for Academic Retention & Enhancement Founded at FSU in 1968 as Horizons Unlimited, the Center for Academic Retention & Enhancement has provided support to first-generation college students.

The Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement was created at the Florida State University in January 2000, in effect combining two long-established institutional academic support programs. These programs were the Horizons Unlimited Program, and the Summer Enrichment Program. Both of these programs were designed to provide equality and access for disadvantaged students.

From budgeting and credit to saving, investing, and making informed financial decisions, our first-generation students gained practical tools to help them succeed both in college and beyond.
