🎉 Congratulations to our SAET alum on being selected for the Prescott Reavis Grant from the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA)!

Established in 2022, the grant honors the legacy of NOMA leader Prescott Reavis and supports architecture students and emerging professionals from Historically Black Colleges and Universities as they make the transition from the classroom into the profession.

We are proud to see another member of the FAMU SAET family recognized and supported as they take the next step in their architectural journey. 🐍🧡💚

Dr. Tejal Mulay received $25,000 in supplemental funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to expand student and community engagement in artificial intelligence through the Presidential AI Challenge. The supplemental award builds upon her NSF EAGER project and supports outreach, mentorship, and hands-on AI activities designed to engage students in identifying real-world challenges and developing AI-enabled solutions. Through this initiative, students gain experience in AI, engineering design, teamwork, and problem-solving while strengthening pathways toward the future STEM and AI workforce.

SAET Alum Danielle Sackie-Mensah Fair shared an opportunity for our alumni and construction professionals. The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has posted a Construction Project Manager (GS-12) position. 📅 The announcement is scheduled to close August 17, or after 400 applications are received — whichever comes first. So, interested applicants should apply early.

Danielle also emphasized that GSA is very particular about résumé formatting and content. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review OPM’s guidance on the federal two-page résumé before applying:

A special thank you to Balfour Beatty and Scott Skidelsky, President, Southeast, for investing in the next generation of professionals and helping SAET prepare students to be industry-ready. Internships provide more than a summer job. They allow our students to apply what they have learned, understand professional expectations, develop relationships with industry leaders, and return to the classroom with greater confidence and purpose.

This summer, six SAET students gained valuable professional experience with Balfour Beatty:

Cheynne Clarke — SAET Facilities Management
Chase Walton — SAETConstruction Engineering Technology
Taylor Williams — SAETConstruction Engineering Technology
Noah Wolaver — SAETConstruction Engineering Technology
Alicia Laracuente — SBI Business Administration
Samairah DeSouza — SBI Business Administration

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dr. G. Thomas Bellarmine, Professor Emeritus of Electronic Engineering Technology at Florida A&M University. Dr. Bellarmine dedicated nearly two decades to educating and mentoring students, strengthening the Electronic Engineering Technology Program, and serving the engineering profession with distinction. His contributions as an educator, leader, and mentor left a lasting impact on our School, our University, and the many lives he touched.

Fall 2026 preparation is not limited to tables, chairs, course schedules, and faculty assignments.

It also includes the tools and technologies that support contemporary studio production: the CNC router, 3D printers, laser cutter, and the Digital Fabrication Lab.

These machines are not the source of design creativity. That still begins with curiosity, discipline, imagination, and the hard work of the student. But they are part of the environment our students need to translate ideas into prototypes, test materials, refine details, and prepare for the expectations of practice. At FAMU, we take that responsibility seriously.

If our students cannot find meaningful work after graduation, we know WE HAVE WORK TO !!

🐍🧡💚 FAMU SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Up | Chicago Edition

The FAMU SAET was excited to welcome our incoming Chicago Rattlers to the first 2026 SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Up. Welcome, Brianna, Laiyana, Malcolm, and Peyton. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make at FAMU and beyond.

This SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Ups have two goals:
• Connect incoming students with FAMU alumni and professional mentors in their hometown before arriving on campus.
• Help future classmates build relationships with other students from their region who are beginning their journey at FAMU.

A sincere THANK YOU to FAMU SAET Alum Raymond “Taft” Cleveland for hosting the Chicago Mentor Meet-Up and sharing his professional experiences with our future architects and construction engineers. We also extend our appreciation to SmithGroup for opening its doors and providing an outstanding setting for the event.

This is just the beginning. Additional FAMU SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Ups will be held in Washington, DC, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, and South Florida as we continue to build connections among our students, alumni, and industry partners.

Week One is underway at the rear entrance of the FAMU Walter Smith building. Progress often starts with disruption, but each phase brings us closer to a more welcoming and functional entry point for the School.

More updates to come as the work continues.

As FAMU celebrates a record-setting Class of 2030 applicant pool, 💚🧡Architecture is listed among the “Top 10 Programs of Study”.🎉🎉

More students are seeing architecture as a pathway to creativity, leadership, community impact, technology, design excellence, and the future of the built environment. It also reflects the growing visibility of our students, faculty, alumni, and industry partners who continue to show what is possible through a FAMU architecture education.🐍

Thank you Jeffrey Pierce, II and !!! FAMU Undergraduate Admissions Rocks!!!

Congratulations to the FAMU School of Architecture & Engineering Technology Spring 2026 graduates.

Today, we celebrate the late nights, the calculations, the presentations, the revisions, the critiques, the deadlines, the teamwork, and the quiet determination that brought you to this moment. You have earned more than a degree. You have earned a place in the next generation of problem-solvers and leaders who will shape the built environment.

To our graduates in Architecture, Construction Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, and Facilities Management: we are proud of you. Carry the Rattler spirit with confidence, humility, and purpose. Strike. Strike. And Strike Again. 🐍🎓
