FAMU SAET welcomes architect and cultural strategist Julian Owens, NOMA, AIA, NCARB for the next installment of our VOICES Lecture Series.

Owens serves as a Senior Architect with Pilot Company and Director of Partners of Place, bringing together architectural practice, research, culture, and community-centered thinking. His work offers students an important perspective on how research informs design decisions—and how architects can respond more thoughtfully to the people and places they serve. Walt Disney Imagineering is coming to FAMU to share details about the 2026 Imaginations Design Competition, where undergraduate and graduate students can develop bold ideas, showcase their talents, and compete for an opportunity to present to Imagineering executives in California.

Finalist teams receive an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney Imagineering headquarters in California, compete for awards, and interview for potential internship opportunities.

We are excited to welcome our Fall 2026 transfer students to the FAMU family!

Featured here are a student from Hillsborough Community College and one from St. Petersburg College—each arriving with an AA degree and ready to take the next step in architecture, engineering technology, construction, and the built environment.

They’re part of a larger group of new SAET transfer students joining us from colleges across Florida, including Broward College, Miami Dade College, Palm Beach State College, Valencia College, Tallahassee State College, Hillsborough Community College, and St. Petersburg College.

🐍🧡💚 FAMU SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Up | Chicago Edition

The FAMU SAET was excited to welcome our incoming Chicago Rattlers to the first 2026 SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Up. Welcome, Brianna, Laiyana, Malcolm, and Peyton. We look forward to seeing the impact you will make at FAMU and beyond.

This SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Ups have two goals:
• Connect incoming students with FAMU alumni and professional mentors in their hometown before arriving on campus.
• Help future classmates build relationships with other students from their region who are beginning their journey at FAMU.

A sincere THANK YOU to FAMU SAET Alum Raymond “Taft” Cleveland for hosting the Chicago Mentor Meet-Up and sharing his professional experiences with our future architects and construction engineers. We also extend our appreciation to SmithGroup for opening its doors and providing an outstanding setting for the event.

This is just the beginning. Additional FAMU SAET Alum + Mentor Meet-Ups will be held in Washington, DC, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, and South Florida as we continue to build connections among our students, alumni, and industry partners.
