Seminole Spirit Meets Orlando Pride!

Earlier this month, the Pride Alumni Network at FSU joined the festivities at Come Out With Pride Orlando, bringing a little garnet and gold to the celebration!

Board members Hunt Fitch and Dr. Harry Barbee proudly represented our network, spending the day connecting with fellow Seminoles, including several alumni who were excited to learn about PAN for the first time! Between the prize wheel, garnet-and-gold giveaways, and meaningful conversations, the day was filled with opportunities to celebrate Pride, share our Seminole spirit, and strengthen connections within our alumni community.

And of course, what’s a gathering of Florida college alumni without a little friendly rivalry? Our friends from UF and other Florida universities joined in on the playful banter, bringing back memories of college days and reminding us that while school spirit may divide us on game day, Pride brings us together!

A big thank you to Hunt and Harry for showing up, sharing our mission, and helping fellow Noles find their community beyond campus!

LGBTQ+ History Month (October 1-31)

October is LGBTQ+ History Month, a time to celebrate the stories, contributions, and individuals who have shaped our community.

October also gives us an opportunity to recognize International Le***an Day and National Coming Out Day, honoring le***an visibility, the importance of representation, and the many personal journeys of coming out and living authentically.

As the Pride Alumni Network at FSU, we celebrate those who paved the way, those continuing to make history, and the generations of Noles who will carry that legacy forward.

Our Pride Alumni Network at FSU family is growing! 🏳️‍🌈

We’re excited to welcome four incredible Noles to our Board of Directors, each bringing their own experiences, perspectives, and commitment to community.

Welcome to the board, Ashlee, Andy, Micah, and Scott!



Meet Dr. Ashlee Fontes (she/her/hers), one of the newest members of the Pride Alumni Network at FSU Board of Directors!

A Tallahassee native and double Nole, Ashlee has built a career around sports, leadership, and creating opportunities for others. She is the founder and CEO of TLH Reckoning, Tallahassee’s first women’s pre-professional soccer club, and previously served as president of United Soccer Coaches.

From competing as an FSU athlete to teaching in FSU’s Sports Management and College of Business programs, Ashlee’s connection to FSU runs deep. We’re excited to have her experience and hometown perspective on the board.

Meet Andy Janecek (he/him/his), one of the newest members of the Pride Alumni Network at FSU Board of Directors!

A Tallahassee local and non-traditional FSU alumnus, Andy has been in our corner since the early days of the network. He currently serves as Director of Public Relations for the Leon County Property Appraiser’s Office and brings years of experience in local advocacy and community engagement.

His past involvement includes leadership with Tallahassee PrideFest and service on the Tallahassee Mayor’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Council.

We’re glad to officially have you at the table, Andy! 🏳️‍🌈

Meet Dr. Micah Lomax (he/him/his), bringing a little West Coast Nole energy to the Pride Alumni Network at FSU Board!

Based in San Diego, Micah is a double FSU graduate and serves as Senior Manager of Marketing Insights at Meta. His commitment to LGBTQ+ community has also shown up throughout his career, including previous service as VP and Treasurer of HP’s Pride ERG and his current involvement as a Guardian of Pride with San Diego Pride.

Sep. 18 | National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day ❤️

Today, we recognize those aging with HIV and honor a generation whose lives, friendships, families, and communities were forever shaped by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

For us as a Pride Alumni Network, this day is also a reminder to remember our history, care for one another, and make sure no generation in our community feels forgotten.

As World Su***de Prevention Day comes to a close, one reminder worth carrying beyond today: you matter, you belong, and you don’t have to carry everything alone. 💛

If you’re struggling, reach out to someone you trust or call or text 988 for support. And for the rest of us, check in on your people, make space for the honest conversations, and really listen when someone says they’re not okay.

A new chapter of leadership for PAN! 🏳️‍🌈

We’re excited to celebrate Dr. Harry Barbee (MS ’16, PhD ’20) as our new Vice President!

Harry has been part of the PAN Board since 2023, bringing their time, talent, and commitment to several areas of our work along the way. We’re excited to see that leadership continue in this new role and for all that’s ahead for our network.

Today we remember Marsha P. Johnson on her birthday and the impact she had on generations of LGBTQ+ people who came after her.

For us at the Pride Alumni Network at FSU, her story is a reminder that community doesn’t just happen. People choose to build it, stand up for it, and make sure others have a place in it.

That’s something we hope to keep doing for every generation of Noles.
