FSU Law students took their Florida Civil Practice class to the federal courthouse last week to argue motions to dismiss! ⚖️

This hands-on experience allowed students to put their legal knowledge into practice and strengthen their courtroom advocacy skills.

The course is taught by Adjunct Professor Martin Fitzpatrick, who serves as a U.S. magistrate judge in the Northern District of Florida.

Join us for a timely discussion on how artificial intelligence is reshaping free speech, government accountability, surveillance, and constitutional rights in the digital age.

Join FSU Law and the First Amendment Foundation on Thursday, Oct. 22, for “Free Speech in the Age of AI,” a symposium exploring the intersection of AI, free speech and government accountability as part of FSU Discovery Days.

Through three panel discussions, scholars, attorneys and advocates will examine facial recognition at public demonstrations, access to government AI records, and legal remedies when automated decisions affect constitutional rights.

FSU Law recently hosted “Pathways to Practice,” featuring attorneys Glenn Ladwig, Bill Holliman and Kathryn R. Judson (’19).

The panelists shared insights into patent prosecution, patent litigation, trademarks and copyrights, offering students practical guidance on career paths, professional qualifications and opportunities in this evolving field.

The event was co-hosted by FSU Law’s Career Services and Professional Development Office and the Intellectual Property Law Society.

This week, FSU Law and the Judge Advocate Student Association welcomed representatives from all branches of the military to the D’Alemberte Rotunda for JAG Day!

Students interested in becoming judge advocates had the opportunity to learn more about military law, explore career paths and connect directly with JAG representatives from each branch.

🏆 Congratulations to 3L Gambill Dallas and 3L Harrison Cho!

Earlier this month, they competed in the regional round of the Judge Thomas Tang & Dr. Pearl Tang Moot Court Competition in New York City, earning an invitation to the national competition in Los Angeles this November!

Thank you to FSU Law alumni and former Moot Court team members Michael Kaney (’18) and Ben Taylor (’19) for coaching the team and sharing their expertise.
