University of Pennsylvania Sailing Team The University of Pennsylvania Sailing Team. The University of Pennsylvania Sailing Team has a long tradition of excellence in inter-collegiate sailing.

Founded in the early days of collegiate sailing, Penn continues to compete at the highest levels of college sailing to this day. Throughout the club's history at Penn, it has achieved much success -- in the 1970s, when the men's basketball team was making news by winning Ivy titles and reaching the Final Four, sailors like Robert "Jack" Lefort Jr, and 12-time national champion Cory Fischer Sertl were competing with success against powerhouse teams like Navy, the Merchant Marine Academy, Yale and Harvard. Penn still competes against these teams, and despite many years in obscurity has in the past decade regained prominence on the national collegiate sailing stage; most notably making the ISCA Nationals in '08 and '09. The Penn Sailing Team is currently a Club sport at the University of Pennsylvania. While we are not a varsity program, we still compete against all the best varsity and club programs from across the nation. Penn is a member of the ICSA MAISA division (Mid-Atlantic Inter-collegiate Sailing Association). Penn Sailing is the top club team in the Mid-Atlantic division having won the MAISA Club Championships in '09, '10, '11, and '13. Our sailing facilities are located at The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia; a short drive from Penn's campus. Our fleet consists of nine FJs. The team practices in the waters of the Delaware River. Penn competes in both the Fall and Spring collegiate sailing seasons and sails both sectional and intersectional regattas. THE QUAKES ARE GOING TO THE OPEN ACC CHAMPIONSHIP! 🔴🔵

In a great performance, the Quakers at Open ACC Round 1A hosted by St. Mary’s finished 4th out of 17, qualifying them for the Championship! We also went to the Oyster Bowl, competing in both the Open and Women’s division where we finished 2nd in Open and 3rd in Women’s. We’re grinding away on the water as we prepare for this weekend’s Women’s ACC Championship and next weekend’s Open ACC Championship. As always, Go Quakers!

Happy Sunday! Here’s the weekend recap⭐️

Congratulations to the team for getting 4th at the Chesapeake Open at Navy! The team also traveled north to the Jack Boehringer and the Susan Roger’s regattas at Cornell, and, unfortunately, while there wasnt enough wind or races to constitute a regatta, the team won both races in the Women’s and Open🏆! We’re looking forward to a great week of practice for next weekend❤️💙

Happy FIRST weekend of the season! The Quakers went up to KP to sail both Women’s and Open — thank you KP for hosting. We’re so proud of the entire team performance, placing second in both Women’s and Open (with our second Open team finishing in third). A congratulations to Esme Gonzalez (C ‘28) and Sadie Yoder (C ‘28) for winning Women’s and to our freshman who debuted strongly. With such a fantastic start to the season, we can’t wait for next weekend! As always, Go Quakers!
