Despite the increased numbers of patients dealing with chronic kidney disease and hypertension, the nephrology workforce in the U.S. is declining. A few of our second-year completed the eight-week RENUM-FL program, designed to increase interest in the basic sciences and research opportunities in nephrology. Students presented research findings after working with top nephrologists at some of the USF Health-University of South Florida partner hospitals including Tampa General Hospital, James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital and Moffitt Cancer Center.
