The 1981 UTampa Men’s Soccer Team has been inducted into the Tampa Bay Soccer Hall of Fame as a Team of Distinction! The undefeated Spartans made history that season, capturing UTampa’s first national championship in any sport and helping set the stage for a tradition of championship excellence.

The celebration brought former teammates back together to reflect on the season, their accomplishments and the lasting impact of the 1981 team. The evening also honored the late Coach Tom Fitzgerald as a member of the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026, joining Coach Jay Miller, who was inducted in 2025.

Congratulations to the 1981 Spartans on an incredible and well-deserved honor! ❤️⚔️
