I am pleased to announce that Dr. Matthew Mifsud, MD, FACS, is now the permanent chair of the Dept. of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine.

Dr. Mifsud assumes this role following a period of exceptional leadership as acting chair, during which he guided the department with steadiness and vision after the untimely loss of our esteemed colleague and prior chair, Dr. Tapan Padhya.

His appointment reflects both his outstanding contributions to date and the strong confidence we have in his ability to lead the department into its next phase of growth. A nationally recognized head and neck surgeon, Dr. Mifsud has built one of the nation’s most advanced clinical programs in complex head and neck surgery.
