The Marriage and Family Therapy program at USF is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor to join the Department of Child & Family Studies in the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wants to contribute to the growth of an established MFT program through research, teaching, graduate student mentorship, and service.

The Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy is a full-time, two-year, in-person program and is also Florida’s only COAMFTE-accredited master’s program in a public university.

Minimum qualifications:
▪ An earned doctorate — or ABD with degree conferred before appointment — in Marriage and Family Therapy, Family Science, Human Development and Family Science, Family Studies, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a closely related discipline
▪ An active research agenda with potential for sustained scholarly productivity leading to external funding
▪ Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at USF

The USF Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Program is hiring for three tenure-earning or tenured assistant/associate faculty positions.

We’re hiring three faculty members to join our program in Tampa.

Minimum qualifications:

▪ Earned doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or a closely related field
▪ Meets university criteria for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level
▪ Possession of, or eligibility for, Florida LMHC licensure or CRC status within one year of employment

Faculty will teach in-person courses and contribute as core faculty through teaching, research and external grant funding, graduate student mentoring and advising, and community and professional service.

The Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program recently welcomed clinicians, students, and mental health professionals from across the region for advanced training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). The program partnered with EFT Tampa Bay for the two-day training led by internationally recognized EFT Trainer, Robin Williams-Blake.

Scholarship support by EFT Tampa Bay and community partners, provided 10 MFT students with training scholarships totaling $7,250.

"We are especially grateful for the scholarship support that allows our students to participate in these transformative learning opportunities," said Everette Coffman, PhD, Assistant Professor of Instruction in the MFT program.

We’re pleased to share that two CFS staff members, Sandra Dwinell and Adrian Brooks, have been selected to serve on USF’s University Conduct Board (UCB) beginning this fall. 🎉

Sandra Dwinell, Administrative Services Administrator for the Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health program, and Adrian Brooks, Communications and Marketing Officer for CFS, will contribute to the UCB’s work of educating students about the importance of community, civility, and ethics within the USF community.

Marilyn Stern, PhD, is one of three researchers who received prestigious awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The awards support research that addresses complex health and behavioral health challenges and could improve outcomes for children and underserved communities.

Dr. Stern's award is from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities for a project aimed at reducing obesity among children in rural communities, particularly for Latino youth.

Today, our programs welcomed the newest cohort of students as they begin their graduate school journeys at USF.

The orientations provided an opportunity for students to connect with faculty, staff, alumni, and peers while learning more about their curriculum, certification and licensure pathways, and the many resources available to support their success.

Program alumni, returned to share their experiences, answer questions, and offer valuable insights to our incoming students.

Dean Julie Serovich visited each orientation session to personally welcome students, encouraging them to make the most of their time at USF, embrace new opportunities, and fully engage in the academic and professional experiences that lie ahead.

It was a busy and energizing day as we gear up for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year. We are thrilled to welcome the newest graduate students to the USF community and look forward to seeing all they will accomplish.
