National presence for Printing Black America: Du Bois’s Data Portraits in the 21st Century!
Created in collaboration with six publishers across the United States, including Graphicstudio within the College of Design, Art & Performance at USF, the portfolio by William Villalongo and Shraddha Ramani has been acquired by major institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
The portfolio updates W.E.B. Du Bois’s groundbreaking data visualizations for the 1900 World’s Fair with contemporary data and perspectives. Printing Black America has connected with audiences and institutions across the country through exhibitions, public libraries and museum collections, extending Du Bois’s legacy for new audiences and future generations.
