We hope you are excited to kick off your FDU Orientation experience with us! In the weeks leading up to your registered orientation date, you will have the opportunity to virtually meet with your Orientation Leader, OL, via Zoom. Starting this week, you will be able to ask your OL questions about college life and make connections with your future peers. Please note that these weekly sessions are not mandatory, but rather, highly suggested. FDU Metro's Orientation Team encourages you to engage with your OL and your peers to learn more about what can be expected at FDU Metro. Please check your FDU email to access your Zoom link! Last, but certainly not least, we have our OL, Paola Arenas! Paola is a Senior in the Nursing Program with a minor in Business Administration. She is President of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. and is also the Philanthropy Chair for the Inter-Greek Council. An interesting fact about her is that she loves to interior decorate and do little home improvement projects! "What I love about FDU is that there are so many diverse groups of people and organizations. You get the opportunity to meet new people and learn about so many different cultures and also the opportunity to see how we’re all connected!" That concludes our OL spotlights! Next we have our OL Jawer Echeverry! Jawer is an Information Technology major and is a junior. He works part-time with Public Safety and is a proud Brother of Sigma Pi Fraternity, International. 🦉 Some interesting facts about him is that he is Colombian and is fluent in both English and Spanish. 🇨🇴 He also love all kinds of sports and activities and won a State Championship for soccer in 2018! ⚽️ "My favorite thing about the University would be the culture and the people you surround yourself with. Everyone is so nice and willing to help you at any cost, they have designated places for any one of your needs! When you make the decision of attending FDU you don’t just choose a school, you choose a family to spend the next 4 years of your life with endless possibilities of learning and exploring. I’m very excited & look forward to meeting you all very soon!"

Next up we have our OL Erin Jackson! Erin is a Criminal Justice major with a Forensic Psychology minor and is a sophomore. She is an Admissions Ambassador and a member of the University Honors Program, as well as a member of the Criminal Justice Club. One interesting fact about Erin is that she is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Now introducing our OL, Bisola Adeniyi! Bisola is currently a senior majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor of Social Justice Advocacy. She will be here at FDU for another year for the combined degree program to obtain her Masters. She is Secretary of both the African Heritage Society and Fashion Corps, and is also the Campus Improvement and Safety Senator of the Student Government Association. Futhermore, she works for Public Safety at on campus. A fun fact about Bisola is that her name is a Nigerian origin name that means “born into wealth”. ✨ "What I adore about FDU is how you automatically feel apart of the family when you step on our campus. Our campus is diverse and I love it! FDU is a safe space, full of friendly people where you can be yourself. This week we will be introducing our awesome Orientation Leaders! Here we have Maria Vizcaino! Maria is currently a senior English major in the QUEST program for Secondary Education, along with Special Education. She is eager to work with high school student and to be a motivator for them both inside and outside the classroom. Aside from being a Orientation Leader, Maria is also the President of Fashion Corps, the Vice President of NJSEA, part of 3 honor societies and is a new Resident Assistant. A fun fact about her is that she was born in Ecuador and came to the United States when she was only 5 years old! Something Maria loves most about FDU is how diverse and welcoming our campus is. "It’s a place where my friends have quickly become like family, and has turned into my home away from home!" Stay tuned for our next OL spotlight tomorrow!

During every summer before a new academic year, the Dean of Students Office facilitates New Student Orientation by engaging incoming students so that they may feel prepared and excited for their new journey ahead.
