Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. Alpha Sigma Chapter

Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. Alpha Sigma Chapter Member of the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations at Arizona State University.

On December 1, 1975, history was made – history on a college campus, which would transcend other colleges/universities throughout the United States; history which would have a positive impact on the Latino community and our nation; history which would forever change the Greek system, more specifically, the entity known as a fraternity. On December 1, 1975, Lambda Theta Phi was founded on the campu

s of Kean College in Union, New Jersey. In 1975, there were no Latino fraternities in existence in the United States. The Greek-letter organizations of the time primarily catered to Anglo and African-American students and graduates. Lambda’s founders, as men of vision, realized there was a need to unite the Latino students, develop their leadership skills, impart upon them the value of an education, and instill in them a commitment to their community and culture. The traditional student club would not suffice to accomplish such lofty goals. Hence, Latino unity and brotherhood would be achieved through a long recognized institution – the fraternity. This newest addition to the Greek system would be the first in the nation, by identity and by name: Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Incorporated.

Twenty years ago today 6 men brought Lambda Theta Phi to the campus of Arizona State University. Today every brother that has earned his letters at Alpha Sigma chapter takes time out to thank our founding brothers for creating the possibility for any student at ASU to become a Lambda Man. The eternal ring of fire burns on, and even as we celebrate 20 years of Unity, Respect, Brotherhood, Culture, and Pride here at ASU we look to the future and hope that the next 20 years are as glorious as the past two decades have been to us. Happy Lambdaversary to every brother that has the privilege and honor to call themselves a brother from Alpha Sigma.

When hard work and dedication are recognized it only fuels the conviction that more is necessary and achievable. Congratulations brothers on having your efforts recognized, allow it to fuel all your future endeavors. And to all those that donated towards this cause, here is the proof that when we say "every toy counts" it's not hype. The impact of your generosity is felt and it is consequential. Whether you donated a toy, a dollar, or $100 dollars; every little bit helped and because of you every child at Whitman Elementary K-4th grade received a gift this year. Thank you.
