Over 25 years ago I chanced upon this film as I was headed to Mesoamerica. I swore someday I would see it in its entirety. I finally found it on a streaming service!

My friend, Dr Joel Palka, was recently featured in a National Geographic episode on the Maya! For my academic friends, he’s an Associate Professor at ASU. For my northern Illinois friends, he grew up in Belvidere and went to NIU (then Vanderbilt). We spent many years in the Chicago Maya Society. His work with living and ancient Maya just got a LOT more interesting!!
