The Fort Washington Alumnae and Tri-County (MD) Alumnae Chapters wrapped up an impactful Black Maternal Health Day of Service on Sunday, January 26th!
We hosted powerful sessions covering critical topics like postpartum care, maternal mortality, and diaper health—topics that are key to supporting new mothers and babies. Leaders, Co-Chairs of Physical & Mental Health, and special guest speakers made it an unforgettable event!
Finally, we wrapped up our Diaper Health Service Project with a heartfelt donation to the Maryland Diaper Bank. Thanks to everyone who contributed through our Amazon Wishlist! We were able to make a meaningful impact with diapers and essential accessories.
Looking ahead, our chapters are committed to continuing their efforts in maternal health advocacy. We are planning future initiatives that will build on the success of this event, including more educational sessions, community outreach programs, and partnerships with health organizations to further support maternal health.
The Black Maternal Health Day of Service was a beacon of hope and a call to action for all who are passionate about maternal health. The Fort Washington Alumnae and Tri-County (MD) Alumnae Chapters have set a remarkable example, one that will inspire continued efforts towards ensuring the health and well-being of all mothers and their children.

As we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are reminded of the courage and resilience required to champion and advance justice and equity. Today, as we continue to honor Dr. King’s legacy and his 96th birthday, we do so by moving forward with fortitude.

Let this day serve as a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we are united in purpose. The time for action is now. The challenges are many, but so are our victories. We are a powerful force for good, propelled by the legacy of Dr. King.

ER Love My Sister Week! Share a prayer, inspirational quote, or an uplifting message to set intentions for the week ahead.

FWAC was blessed and honored to worship at New Hope AME Church (Pastor Rev. Aaron Tinch) for Founders Day Church Service. We heard a mighty word from our Soror and guest preacher, Rev. Dr. Delishia Davis entitled “Poised for Progression” and it was right on time! We were also honored to be in the presence of Rev. Dr. Marie Phillips-Braxton, granddaughter of Founder Vashti Turley Murphy.
