The wait is almost over, Creekside and Tomball! ⚡

Our next Digital Campuses are almost here!

On August 8, Optimized Wi-Fi goes live at the LSC-Creekside Center and LSC-Tomball Health Science Building, followed by the LSC-Tomball main campus on August 15.

Behind the scenes, our OTS teams and partners have been hard at work to make it happen:
📶 352 new access points
🔌 88,000 feet of Cat6a cable installed
🏈 That's enough cable to stretch more than 244 football fields (over 16½ miles!)

The result? Faster, stronger, more reliable Wi-Fi that will help power teaching, learning, and collaboration across these Lone Star College locations.

Trevor the Timberwolf and Monty the Maverick are already celebrating... and we think you will be too! 🎉

🐶💻 Happy National Work Like a Dog Day!

Today is all about celebrating the qualities that make dogs such great companions: loyalty, energy, determination, and always being ready to help. Sound familiar?

That's exactly why OTiS, our Office of Technology Services IT Ambassador, is a Jack Russell Terrier.

Jack Russells are known for being:
🐾 Quick and agile
🐾 Smart problem-solvers
🐾 Friendly and approachable
🐾 Curious and adaptable
🐾 Tenacious when there's a challenge to solve

Those are the same qualities we see in our OTS team every day as they help keep Lone Star College connected, secure, and ready to support learning.

📚🐾 Every classroom has a story, and this one is pretty remarkable.

Congratulations to Professor Jonathan Burroughs, our latest OTiS customer feedback drawing winner!

OTS Campus Services Director Randall Paulk recently had the opportunity to present Professor Burroughs with his new plush OTiS at Lone Star College-North Harris. During the visit, we had the chance to step inside one of the many unique learning environments across Lone Star College.

A former LSC-North Harris student himself, Professor Burroughs shared that he remembers watching the events of September 11 unfold from campus. Today, he prepares a new generation of students for careers in Emergency Management, helping them develop the knowledge and confidence they'll need when communities need them most.

His classroom reflects that mission. From live news monitoring displays and hurricane tracking maps to the "City of Disasterville" media briefing podium, where students practice delivering emergency updates during simulated disasters, every detail is designed to create an immersive, hands-on learning experience.

Professor Burroughs also took a moment to recognize the people who help make that experience possible, offering a special thank you to Stacie Luna, OTS Client Technologies II, for her dedication, attention to detail, and persistence in keeping the classroom technology current and running smoothly.

We're grateful for faculty partners like Professor Burroughs, who inspire students every day, and for OTS team members like Stacie, whose work behind the scenes helps make innovative learning environments possible.

Congratulations again, Professor Burroughs! We hope OTiS enjoys his new home in your classroom. 🐶💙
