Nicholls Alumni Scholarship Spotlight ♥️⚔️

Mia Nunez has been awarded the Upperclassman Scholarship.

We asked Mia to share a few words with the alumni and donors who made this scholarship possible, and she shared…

"I would like to thank the donors from the bottom of my heart. This scholarship takes a huge financial burden off my shoulders and helps me focus more on my classes. This scholarship takes a huge amount of pressure off of me, and enables me to enjoy my college experience, work harder on my classes, and takes away the worry of having to afford my tuition. This scholarship did not just take the pressure off of just me, but also my parents. It gave me and my family relief and filled us with so much gratitude. I will forever be grateful to the donors for this amazing opportunity and will make them proud. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH ALUMNI DONORS! Geaux Colonels!."

Mia is majoring in Allied Health Sciences with a Pre-Professional concentration and is expected to graduate in May 2027. Congratulations, Mia! Keep making Nicholls proud!

Nicholls Alumni Making Headlines ♥️⚔️

Congratulations to Becky Plaisance (B.A ED. ‘87 & M.Ed.’90), principal of Bayou Blue Upper Elementary School, for being named the Lafourche Parish School District’s Principal of the Year.

Becky Plaisance, a two-time Nicholls graduate from the College of Education, has devoted her 31 of her 33½ years in education to serving the students and families of Lafourche Parish. LPSD Superintendent Jarod Martin, alongside members of the Plaisance family and district leadership, surprised her with the exciting news. We are proud to celebrate Ms. Plaisance and are grateful for the passion, hard work, and dedication she brings to every student she serves.

Congratulations, Ms. Plaisance and thank you for being an outstanding example of a Nicholls Alumni!

This past Saturday, during the Nicholls vs. UTRGV family day game, we were proud to recognize Glenn Diedrich and his family as our Alumni Family of the Game!🏈

A 1970 graduate with a B.A. in Business Administration, Glenn was a member of the Nicholls baseball team and played under legendary coach Raymond Didier. His involvement with Nicholls continued throughout the years, serving as both a board member and president of both the College of Business Alumni Association and the Colonel Athletic Association. He was also named a College of Business Alumni Association Outstanding Graduate. Before retiring, Glenn served as the owner and CEO of Cycle World of Houma, which celebrates 60 years this year.

Colonel pride runs deep in his family, too. His wife, Nancy, is a 1969 and 1990 Nicholls graduate, a former Nicholls cheerleader, and the 1967 Homecoming Queen. Glenn and Nancy have three children, Jill, Chris (B.A ’99) and Ellen, as well as seven grandchildren. Their Colonel legacy continues with Chris’ wife, Liz (B.S. '99), as well as grandsons Jack Purser and Charlie Diedrich, who currently play football for the Colonels. We’re proud to celebrate Glenn and the Diedrich family’s lasting impact on Nicholls!⚔♥
