Join us on one of our most unique and accessible study programs to date.

Davidson-Davie International has a unique domestic study program for the fall of this year! Compared to other places we've traveled this is practically in our own back yard (SC Lowcountry) and contains some very important history.

Travel the Gullah Geechee Corridor, Fall Break 2026
October 11-17, 2026

Explore music, food, history, and culture of the Gullah Geechee people. Learn about the preservation and prevalence of this unique African heritage in the low country of South Carolina. During our program studying this culture, we will visit many sites that are culturally and historically important within this culture as well as the culture and history of the United States as a whole.

Stay in a historic school house, kayak in local waterways, and step back in time and stroll the streets of Charleston, South Carolina. You do not want to miss this unique opportunity to study and travel to this global community. Some additional highlights include eating at the famous Gullah Grub restaurant, visiting the International African American Museum, the Slave Mart Museum, and hands-on activities such as sweet grass basket weaving, indigo dyeing and much more.

Today will end our second week with our guests from Mercantec in Viborg, Denmark. We’ve had a wonderful experience in which we visited many companies in Davidson and Davie counties. From the visits to companies to our classes and cultural excursions, we have had creative conversations on meaningful ways to collaborate to benefit our students and schools as a whole. I look forward to one more week with the group and the future we’re building. I smile when I see the phrase “The Future Is Here” on campus because it is so positive, but also because it is true!

While in Dominica, we had the opportunity to connect with some government entities like the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Environment (including the Minister of the Environment). From the comments, you can see how proud of their Nature Island they are. We see why!
