Career Connections on Campus (C3) brings Cal Lutheran and the business community together in an expo-style event such as Red Bull, the LA Rams, PureSpectrum, and many others. The goal is to strengthen the ties between our university and the businesses around us — opening doors between students and the people who hire, mentor, and collaborate.

Pitch Deck Poetry Slam brings slam poets and entrepreneurial thinking together to tackle real-world problems and pitch creative solutions through spoken word. The evening begins with a community reception featuring light bites and refreshments, followed by a live poetry slam where poets take the stage to present their solutions—slam style.

At an event at the State Capitol on August 10, Senate President pro Tem Monique Limón and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom honored 11 California women founders on the Senate floor to celebrate their leadership in business, and guess who was one of them - Andrea Brimmer (Business Administration '23).

Since graduation, Andrea has continuously worked on Rivida, an environmental technology company she founded and leads as its CEO. Rivida utilizes NASA-licensed technology to converts agricultural wastewater into clean irrigation water while recovering usable nitrogen, a technology for which she has received two Dorfman Incubator grants.

The State of California honored her for her efforts in helping drive California's economy and for inspiring the next generation of female founders - besides many other achievements Andrea already has to show for herself (photo from LFTR shows Senate Leader Monique Limón, SOM adjunct professor and Dorfman Center Advisory Council member Kelly Kimball, and Andrea Brimmer).

In its July 27 issue, the Los Angeles Business Journal published its LABJ 500 List of "Indespensables".

The list includes people whose outstanding performance contributes to the goals and standing of their respective organizations. We can be exceptionally proud to have three School of Management colleagues included in the Greater Los Angeles area with a population of 12.8 million (or 18.5 if you include Ventura Count and the Inland Empire) - Mike Panesis (Executive Director, Dorfman Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), Matthew Fienup (Executive Director, Center for Economic Research and Forecasting), and Rosie Baker (Senior Communications Coordinator)!
