Chances are you’ve crossed paths with Giana Gutridge ’18, MBA ’21 on campus. As the university’s social media specialist, she was named one of the 40 under 40 up-and-coming business leaders in the region by the Pacific Coast Business Times.✨
“Working in social media and the film industry, I have the incredible privilege of working in a field that is constantly evolving, and that allows us to connect, share and build communities every single day,” she said.
Gutridge has been crafting social media posts for the university’s channels since joining the Marketing and Communications Department in 2022. She’s also the co-station manager of iCLU Radio, where she teaches students radio, podcasting production, board operating, marketing and branding. Outside of Cal Lutheran, her work as a content creator spans brands including Nesquik, Disney and YouTube.
“The role really encapsulates everything that interests me: content creation, film, storytelling and marketing,” Gutridge said. “I think that’s why it suits me so well.”
Gutridge earned her bachelor’s degree in film and television production with a minor in multimedia, then returned to Cal Lutheran to earn her MBA in business marketing. She’s now working on a Ph.D. in strategic media at Liberty University.
Grace Brodoski ’27, a social media assistant for the Marketing and Communications team, said Gutridge’s mentorship shaped her college path.
“When I first started at Cal Lutheran, I was a multimedia major with a minor in marketing,” Brodoski said. “Working under Giana really opened my eyes to how much I love that kind of work. Because of her, I switched my major to marketing.”
Gutridge accepted her 40 Under 40 award at a ceremony last fall at T**a T**a Brewing Co. in Ventura.
“It’s moments like these that remind me of how great my job is, and how social media can affect people,” Gutridge said.
