Business class, but make it international. ✈️

This summer, Neff College of Business students traveled through Germany, Switzerland, France and Liechtenstein, gaining firsthand insight into international business through visits to global companies including SAP, Airbus, Audi, Elektrobit and Novartis, as well as the U.S. Embassy in Switzerland.

Seeing how business operates across different countries and cultures gives students a broader perspective on what it means to do business in a global economy. We’re so excited to see where these experiences take them next!

Swipe through a few highlights from their time in Europe 🌍

“I’m incredibly thankful for the experiences, connections and mentorship I have gained this summer at Marathon Petroleum Corporation. This internship challenged me, helped me grow professionally and created unforgettable memories that I will hold on to long after this summer ends.”

Meet Maddie, an accounting senior at UToledo’s Neff College of Business and Innovation. This summer, she joined Marathon Petroleum as a Sales & Use Tax Intern, where she worked alongside MPC’s accounting team and experienced how accounting supports decision-making within one of the nation’s leading energy companies.

Throughout her internship, Maddie also participated in opportunities beyond her day-to-day role, including visits to MPC’s Detroit refinery and Lima terminal, Intern Week and a volunteer experience with Chopin Hall, a nonprofit organization that provides meals to families in need.

Maddie will return to UToledo this fall with plans to graduate in December 2026, pursue her CPA license and launch her career in accounting. She will also continue growing as a leader as a member of Jesup Scott Honors College and as vice president of administration for Women in Business Leadership

What does it take for a regional business to compete in international markets? Export Success, a nationally recognized export assistance program, is returning to The University of Toledo for its 2027 cohort.

Over the past decade, the program has helped more than 60 companies across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan build research-based export plans and connect with trade agencies, mentors and global partners.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, business leaders, manufacturers and trusted advisors are invited to an informal information session at Lucille's Jazz Lounge at TolHouse to learn more, hear from program leaders and connect with past participants like SmartSolve, a Bowling Green packaging company recognized with the program's Export Plan of the Year award.
