“I’m incredibly thankful for the experiences, connections and mentorship I have gained this summer at Marathon Petroleum Corporation. This internship challenged me, helped me grow professionally and created unforgettable memories that I will hold on to long after this summer ends.”
Meet Maddie, an accounting senior at UToledo’s Neff College of Business and Innovation. This summer, she joined Marathon Petroleum as a Sales & Use Tax Intern, where she worked alongside MPC’s accounting team and experienced how accounting supports decision-making within one of the nation’s leading energy companies.
Throughout her internship, Maddie also participated in opportunities beyond her day-to-day role, including visits to MPC’s Detroit refinery and Lima terminal, Intern Week and a volunteer experience with Chopin Hall, a nonprofit organization that provides meals to families in need.
Maddie will return to UToledo this fall with plans to graduate in December 2026, pursue her CPA license and launch her career in accounting. She will also continue growing as a leader as a member of Jesup Scott Honors College and as vice president of administration for Women in Business Leadership
