The College of Health and Human Services is aligned into four schools; Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, Intervention and Wellness, Population Health, and Social Justice. Through meaningful community engagement, hands-on practical and clinical experience, training from top faculty and professionals, and applied research experiences, our students excel academically and enjoy successful careers.

In Recreational Therapy, healing can happen through movement, art, sports, music, and connection and our students get to be part of that every day.

Our Recreational Therapy program gives students the flexibility to learn online or in person while preparing for a career that’s hands-on, meaningful, and focused on improving quality of life. 💙

We recently visited Clay High School to connect with students and spark conversations around health, community, and the real-world factors that shape well-being. 🩺✨

Through an interactive activity led by Dr. Sarah Long, AP and Organic Chemistry students explored how social determinants of health can impact individuals and communities, giving them a deeper look into the challenges and opportunities within healthcare today.

Thank you to Kristen Keller for coordinating the visit and to teacher and proud UToledo alumnus Fred Saunders for welcoming us into the classroom. We love creating opportunities that inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders! 🚀

Congratulations to our Occupational Therapy student Miranda for representing the future of OT at the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association Hill Day in Columbus, Ohio! 💙

As part of her capstone project, Miranda met with legislators to advocate for policies that strengthen OT practice and improve patient access to care.

Right before graduation, our 2026 Occupational Therapy Doctorate students presented their final scholarly projects and capstone work in partial fulfillment of their doctoral degree. 👏

Ingrid Harmon graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, and now will report to Fort Sam Houston to begin her journey as a U.S. Army physical therapist. In her first year on campus, Ingrid joined the ROTC program to follow in the footsteps of her parents, who are both officers in the Army. Being a part of UToledo ROTC has allowed Ingrid to develop her passion for her major, running and leadership. She also joined more clubs outside of ROTC, becoming president of the pre-physical therapy fraternity Delta Rho Tau, president of the Student Veterans of America and vice president of the American Marketing Association. https://myut.link/ryy
