UToledo faculty are helping shape the conversation about AI. Dr. Matthew Lindia, assistant professor in UToledo’s Department of Communication and Media, recently appeared on WTOL 11’s Leading Edge to discuss the rise of artificial intelligence and UToledo’s new course, AI: Communication and Connection. For our communication and media students, this course brings today’s most important technology conversations directly into the classroom—helping them think critically about AI, communication, ethics, creativity and the future of digital media. It’s another way UToledo is preparing students to lead, create and communicate in a rapidly changing world. 🚀

Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jim Tressel visited Rocket Nation yesterday as part of the statewide Heart of Opportunity Tour, celebrating Ohio's national ranking by CNBC as the No. 1 state for business.

Special thanks to our JHCASE students Aliciana Martinez and Anthony Kruszka from the Department of Communication and Media, and Juthi Mitra from the Department of Geography and Planning for showcasing the professional learning and research experience they've gained through their programs.

Rocket Kids helps UToledo education students launch international careers after graduation! Alumna Lily Fritz now serves as a child and youth program assistant for preschool classrooms for the U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Europe, in Brunssum, Netherlands. Before graduating from UToledo in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in special education with an intervention specialist license, she spent two summers in the Netherlands and Italy interning with Rocket Kids, a program that provides teachers to the children of military personnel overseas.
“Rocket Kids played a big role in helping me get to where I am today,” Fritz said. “Being part of that community gave me so much support and encouragement. It gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities like working abroad.”
