What a lovely Friday at LSC-Tomball!

For all of the milestones we have accomplished - student achievements, artistry and technical growth, professional contracts around the world - these moments of joy and collaboration in pursuit of real and deep learning, with earnest discussion, are soul filling.

Voice Science Pilot Workshop 1 is in the books!

Dr. Nutt and Dean Mindy Coleman welcomed students into the Science First Center - such a wonderful way to begin!

Science First colleagues were delightful - so helpful and supportive - and are already brainstorming opportunities for the future.

We learned a lot from “Victor” - an image built from a body donated to science (on the anatomage table) and were able to better understand laryngeal connections. We took a look at a model of the muscular system - explored multi media resources - covered essential class material - and worked with more digital tools in the Science First Center.

Topics included: the anatomy and physiology of the breath and the larynx - we also discussed resonance and registration - and used every opportunity to apply knowledge to our own experiences in performance and lessons as much as possible - we ran out of time, but so much more I’d like to develop and explore with our people.

Team Tomball was in fine form today! Art and Science met, shook hands, and smiled at each other.

Until next time…

Biology and Voice Faculty will meet our students at the Anatomage Table - in the discussion room - and over refreshments for a day chock-full of VOICE SCIENCE.
