The Shaw Wellness Institute, along with The Center for Women's Studies, is bringing in a local midwife to speak about the historical approaches to cervical exams and newer empowering ways to approach these exams ethically and consensually. She plans on discussing the historical practices that were often quite unethical and often took advantage of women of color. However, this midwife is producing a documentary about modern ways that practitioners are teaching medical students and promoting ethical cervical exams.
