Chemistry Department at Colgate University Our department offers majors in chemistry and biochemistry, as well as a minor in chemistry

We are certified by the American Chemical Society, and are nationally recognized for our faculty-student research program. We offer a research-oriented curriculum that culminates in an original senior research project conducted in collaboration with one or more faculty members.

Attention current chemistry students... if you have not received training from EH&S for lab safety, you will need to!

All lab students MUST attend one of the EHS training sessions in Olin Hall Room 300 (Love Auditorium) held:
8/30/2018 Thurs 3:15 PM and 4:30 PM
8/31/2018 Fri 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM and 4:00 PM
9/2/2018 Sun 5:00 PM
9/4/2018 Tues 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM

If you received Colgate EHS training this calendar year (spring or summer of 2018) you will not need to attend any of the above sessions

Over 6 years ago, our department wanted to better define our course offerings, because our old course titles did not convey the currency of the curriculum. Also, we were seeking greater flexibility and diversity for junior and senior majors. To meet these criteria, half-credit/half-semester courses were conceived
