Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Towson University

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Towson University Osher at Towson University offers adults, 50+, opportunities for continued learning. Osher is self-funded and endowed by the Bernard Osher Foundation.

There are no entrance requirements, just bring your curiosity and love of learning. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Towson University invites men and women ages 50 and older from across the greater Baltimore area to join its community of learning. The heart of the Osher program is its rich and varied curriculum that spans the fields of fine arts, humanities, social sciences, natural and p

hysical sciences, and more. There are no prerequisites, grades, or testsβ€”just the chance to learn for the joy of learning in a congenial atmosphere. In addition to classes, Osher offers films, book clubs, discussion groups, day trips, and social events to enhance the membership experience. Community is an important part of Osher with members developing new friendships as a result. Osher keeps its cost to members low by having participants pay a small annual membership fee and structured fees for individual courses. Morning and afternoon classes are offered Monday through Thursday during the fall and spring semesters. Each 8 week semester is divided into two 4-week sessions. Summer programs include lectures, film series, and mini-courses. Classes are held in the recently renovated facility located at 7400 York Road with state-of-the-art classrooms and free accessible parking. Coffee and refreshments are served in the hospitality area between classes to bolster the social experience for members. Osher members hail from all walks of life and bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives to the learning environment. Teachers are drawn from current and retired university professors, retired secondary school teachers, and from members whose avocation includes subject matter that is relevant and attractive to Osher members. In this respect, Osher offers not only the opportunity to learn, but the opportunity to teach as well. Members are also able to contribute their skills to the Osher program by volunteering on committees that assist with the planning and execution of activities. This page is a place where we will share news, pictures, and interesting topics with our members.
