Inspiring Math Confidence! 💡📐

Rebecca Richardson (NMC 2002-2011) is an NMC math instructor on a mission to empower students who once believed they "weren’t math people"!

Her path began as a scared student in NMC’s Math 111, where patient instructors provided the encouragement that sparked a lifelong love for learning. That lightbulb moment changed everything—putting her on the path to becoming an educator and returning to NMC as faculty! Today, Rebecca helps students build confidence in their abilities while innovating in her classroom to make learning engaging and accessible for all.

Navigating Service & Leadership! ⚓🚢

As State Representative for the 104th District, John R. Roth (NMC 1988-1991) carries forward the civic-minded values instilled by his parents.

Before entering public office, he built a successful career in marine services by directly applying his specialized NMC education—with hands-on memories including navigating a 30-ton tugboat! Grateful for NMC’s tuition support that made his studies attainable, Roth is now a passionate advocate for Northern Michigan’s community college students and the Up North region, working to ensure local communities prosper.

Healing & Lifelong Service! 🩺 📚

With 37 years of board certification, over 100,000 patients treated, and 12,000 surgeries performed, Vincent R. Prusick, MD (Class of 1974), has dedicated his life to healing others!

He credits NMC with providing the crucial foundation that helped him mature and build the academic skills needed for medicine. Guided by mentors and encouraged by his wife, Paula—who consistently believed in him—his journey embodies a true commitment to service. Today, Vince’s writing a book on spine care to share a lifetime of experience with those in need. 💚💙🩵
