Starting the semester right!

On Wednesday, August 26th, we held an ice cream social and our first meeting, which took place in the courtyard outside Finard House. The treats and beautiful scenery made for a perfect afternoon. We had a lovely time reconnecting and meeting our new ambassadors!😊🌸

Capital District Feminist Studies Conference held during Women’s History Month at Russell Sage College was a great success. Such a pleasure to see Noora Ahmed, former Denise Taber Finard ’80 Women’s Institute Ambassador present her research, Characteristics of Sexual Choking/Strangulation Among Female College Students.  Thanks to the Ambassadors who assisted in conference registration, Lizzy Mastrantuono, Jackie Coviello, Julianna Strobeck and all others who attended.  Shout out to Chutria Lallman.

A day rooted in history, sisterhood, and action.

Our Russell Sage Ambassadors visited Seneca Falls to engage with the history of the women’s rights movement, including a tour of the National Women’s History Museum and participation in an organized activist protest.

“I had a wonderful time learning about the key figures who helped shape the Declaration of Sentiments. The tour of the site where the first women’s rights convention occurred was really inspiring. The trip was even more powerful when we got to join a protest; it was really meaningful to honor womens’ history with action!” – Zaynah Dominique Aparece

March was Bring on the Spectrum (BOTS) Girl Empowerment Month, and our ambassadors had the pleasure of joining them for one of their events on March 29th.
During this event, guest speaker Christina Arangio shared, “Confidence is learned. Mirror those you admire.”
After an insightful presentation by the guest speaker, the ambassadors had the opportunity to offer peer support and mentoring to the girls as they decorated mirrors and to reflect on their attributes, such as strength, confidence, and personal power.
