Brothers,
Once again we have been visited by the dreaded messenger death. It is with great regret that I inform those of you who may not be aware, of the loss of our beloved brother Phillip Moore. For our new members. Phil Moore has been a pillar in the 5th masonic district for many, many years. He and his business "The Silver Slipper", a much frequented Bar and lounge, has been celebrated, recognized and honored by the mayor of the city of albany and city council as the oldest continuous black owned and operated business entity in the capital district of New York. The street on which his business is located and where he lived has been name Phillip Moore Way.
He is life member of Capital City Lodge No. 78 and a Honorary Past Illustrious Potentate of Al-Tabari Temple #121. While his obligation to his family and business has always been a physical barrier to his presence in our circles of friendship, morality and brotherly love. He has always supported all of our efforts with his love, obligation, benevolence and charity. He is a pillar and should be honored as such. While this small community celebration of his life does not give the traditional honors that we will be called upon to bestow. It is nevertheless of great importance that as many of us as is possible, attend. Our faces should be all throughout the crowd. And if you knew him like some of the senior members of the 5th Distrct, he will count the faces that belongs to him and were not there and he will talk about you until your hair turns grey. May Allah bless his soul, keep his family and our community as we honor his memory and consecrate his soul as yet another stone in that great edifice erected to GOD. That glorious temple not made with hands and eternal in the heavens.
Take due notice brothers and govern yourselves accordingly.
