We are just over a month out from our Women's Training Day on Sept. 26. Sign up now for a fun day of learning about fi****ms and self protection in a welcoming and non-intimidating atmosphere. We have an all-female group of instructors who will make everyone comfortable. Just $20 and lunch is included!

We will also have a Men's Daycare available for all of those +1's who don't want to be left out of the fun and don't want to be stuck holding a purse all day! We plan to do some blacksmithing, axe throwing, and of course there will be shooting.

MCC Gunsmithing's Mark Dye is in Grinnell Iowa to participate with a group of industry professionals in a Customer Appreciation Board for Brownell's. Brownell's has long been a donor and partner for MCC Gunsmithing and a fantastic supporter of fi****ms education. It is an honor for MCC to participate in this event, and helps to further cement the relationship between MCC and Brownells. The trip included tours of Brownell's corporate headquarters and shipping center. There was also time on Sunday to attend the Gun Owners of America GOALS summit in Des Moines IA on Sunday.

For anyone local or able to travel to Montgomery Community College in Troy, North Carolina, I will be a guest there on SATURDAY, SEPT. 26, as part of an all-day women's training event!

Kick things off with our FREE USCCA women’s safety session at 9 a.m., then choose from hands-on classes throughout the day (see tentative schedule in comments), including:

• Beyond the Basics: Defensive Handgun (Beth Alcazar)
• Hands Off! Real-World Self-Defense (Bailey Draper)
• Beyond the Band-Aid: First Aid Essentials (Ashley Hernandez)
• Artistry in Metal: Women’s Engraving Experience (Sam Cherry)
• PJ’s & Pistols Gun Cleaning Party

Get more details and register on my page (link in comments), even for the sessions I am not personally teaching! SPACE IS LIMITED! Classes are $20 for the ENTIRE day (however many classes you take)... and you can also sign up for the FREE safety session. Food trucks will also be on-site, so you can easily make a full day—or just an afternoon—of it!

(OH... and don't worry; the men won't be left out! There are separate activities and experiences planned throughout the day just for them!)

Artistry in Metal....

Sam Cherry is back with us this week for her Advanced Engraving 201 class. Here are some examples very nice work that Sam did on a single action revolver as well as several examples of student work. Yesterday was a bittersweet day. It was the last day of class for our graduating 2nd year students. It is very satisfying to see a group of newly minted Gunsmiths go out into the world to begin a new chapter in their lives. It is also a little sad to see students who have been with us for two years move on. Here are some group photos of both graduating classes. Here are some really cool examples of Cerakote and laser engraving from the Metal Finishing classes. These all show some really good creativity on the part of the students, from a Spiderman themed G***k, a laser engraving of wild horses on a receiver, to a nicely done camo pattern on a Beretta sh***un.

It was 100 degrees in Ellerbe NC today, but 12 Gunsmithing students and 3 instructors braved the heat for a field trip and long range shooting instruction at Colemans Creek range! It was a great day with many students getting their first ever opportunity to shoot ri**es at distance. A few of the more experienced students managed to get hits on targets as far as 1260 yards! Chef Billy Athay cooked hamburgers on the range. Anyone who didn't show up today really missed out.

We have had a couple of great events on campus over the last few days. Yesterday we hosted a Small Business for the Fi****ms Industry class with Paul Peng. The MCC Small Business Center made this possible, and was a great event for students that will prove very beneficial.
We also had our annual orientation for incoming students. On August 17th, these new students will begin their Gunsmithing journey!
