Over Reunion & Homecoming weekend, we kicked things off by celebrating Doug Mercer ’77 and his generous $27 million gift to the newly named Douglas A. Mercer ’77 Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering.

During the ceremony, students from various clubs and organizations had the opportunity to come to the mic to share a few words and their thanks to Doug. Not only for his gift, but for continuously inspiring the next generation of students to stay curious.

You might be asking yourself, "What in the world are nonuments?" 🤔

While monuments typically stick to a neoclassical style, nonuments break from tradition with a more contemporary look. For Architecture Professor Michael Oatman's Monument/Nonument course, students are challenged to create their own based on specific themes throughout the semester.

For their first nonument project, students researched the history of Troy and used a case of any kind to display their research in a meaningful and creative way. Projects ranged from a picnic basket representing the Troy Farmers Market to an old-timey clock reconfigured as a miniature Ferris wheel. Anything was on the table!

RPI is advancing development of a new community childcare center in partnership with Bright Horizons following a $5 million award from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

The center will be located on campus and will provide 116 full-time childcare spaces for children under the age of 5.

RPI is currently working with Bright Horizons to plan for the center's operations and construction and anticipates welcoming families to the center in late 2027.

Although today is , RPI celebrated the day last week with the next generation of innovators.

Throughout the day, high school students got a firsthand look at manufacturing education, research, and technology at RPI, while exploring the wide range of career paths available in the field.

The pinnacle moment of the day, and one of our favorite traditions, was the landing of a Black Hawk helicopter, giving attendees an up-close look at the incredible craftmanship of the military aircraft.

When the community calls for support, RPI answers! 💯❤️

Over the weekend, Alpha Phi Omega - Epsilon Zeta led its 7th annual RPI Service Day — a day dedicated to community service throughout the Capital Region.

RPI community members came together to lend a helping hand in various ways including organizing food banks, sorting recyclables, sprucing up parks, making cards for children receiving inpatient care, and more.

Established in 1990, the Entrepreneur of the Year award honors Rensselaer graduates who have achieved success as entrepreneurs and now serve as role models for current students and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship and Polytechnic Institute invites you to celebrate this year's honoree Ajit Prabhu ’98G, the founder of Quest Global.

In addition to the awards ceremony and a fireside chat with RPI President Marty Schmidt ’81, the event will include a startup pitch competition and poster presentations by RPI students and faculty. Pitch and poster topics include a wide range of products, from healthcare and e-commerce to energy and space technology.
