The Willie Stanton Award honors William P. Stanton, affectionately known as “Mr. RPI,” whose quiet kindness and more than 45 years of dedicated service left a lasting impact on generations of students. This award is presented annually to a senior who reflects that same spirit of humble, meaningful service to the student body.

Vivian has made a lasting difference by mentoring peers, guiding student organizations, and creating spaces where students feel heard, supported, and valued. Whether solving problems, advising future leaders, or offering help without being asked, she has led with humility, reliability, and care.

Through her involvement in student government, Engineering Ambassadors, Rensselaer Motorsports, and many other student organizations, Vivian has consistently brought people together, connected others with resources, and helped ensure those around her had the support they needed to succeed. 🤝✨

As Grand Marshal, Vivian worked tirelessly to advocate for students, strengthen communication with administration, and advance initiatives that improved daily student life, including mental health resources, campus safety, and access to affordable course materials.

Like Willie Stanton, Vivian has dedicated herself to serving others not for recognition, but to strengthen the community around her. ❤️

Established by RPI Professor Bimal K. Malaviya and his siblings in honor of their parents, this award recognizes a graduating student who exemplifies sustained excellence and selfless service to others.

Throughout her time at RPI, Laura has been a dedicated leader within the National Society of Black Engineers, serving at both the campus and national levels. She has consistently advocated for her peers, supported their professional growth, and helped strengthen the organization through thoughtful and impactful leadership. ✨

Her commitment to service extends far beyond campus. Through Engineers Without Borders, Laura spent four years working to improve food security for a primary school in Uganda. As project lead, she guided both the technical and logistical efforts of the initiative and helped lead a successful trip to install a functioning well for the community. 🌍💧

Laura’s passion for global service is also reflected in her work supporting healthcare access in rural Haiti and her dedication to student leadership development through programs like Leadership Educators Advising Peers (LEAP). 🤝❤️

What truly distinguishes Laura is her humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to uplifting those around her. She represents the very best of service-driven leadership and community impact.

Established this year, this award recognizes a graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership within the Rensselaer Newman Foundation and the broader RPI community through service, initiative, integrity, and commitment to the common good.

An Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering student, Joseph has balanced rigorous academics with a deep commitment to serving the RPI community. Through his involvement with the Catholic community at RPI, he embraced the Newman Foundation’s mission of faith, service, and purpose—developing a leadership style grounded in humility, compassion, and care for others. ✨

Joseph also made a lasting impact through his work with the Student Union Executive Board, serving as Vice President for Board Operations. Established by Barbara Zuber in honor of her husband, Paul B. Zuber, former director of Urban and Environmental Studies, this award recognizes underrepresented students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, and academic excellence at RPI and within their communities.

Jynene has made a lasting impact at RPI through her leadership and dedication to student success. As Treasurer of Material Advantage, she helped expand opportunities for hands-on learning and professional development in materials engineering. Through the National Society of Black Engineers, she served as both a finance leader and Academic Excellence Chair, creating workshops and initiatives that empowered and supported her peers. 📚✨

Jynene has also been a dedicated member of the Caribbean Students Association, helping foster spaces of celebration, representation, and community while proudly honoring her roots in St. Lucia. 🌴❤️

🏆 Congratulations to Grace Johnson '25, '26G, recipient of the Livingston W. Houston Citizenship Award! 🎉

Established by Clay P. Bedford in memory of RPI’s 11th President, Livingston Waddell Houston, this award recognizes the student considered the “First Citizen of the College” — someone who exemplifies character, leadership, scholarship, and athletic achievement.

Grace embodies these qualities in every aspect of her RPI experience. As a four-year member of the RPI Field Hockey team, she demonstrated incredible resilience by overcoming a season-ending ACL injury and returning to serve as team captain during both her junior and senior years. 🏑💪 A two-time All–Liberty League honoree, team MVP, and recipient of multiple Sportsmanship Awards, she has earned the admiration of teammates and coaches alike.

In the classroom, Grace has excelled as a Civil Engineering major, earning Dean’s Honor List recognition and induction into Chi Epsilon, the civil engineering honor society. 📚✨

Beyond academics and athletics, Grace has shown a deep commitment to service through the Appalachia Service Project, where she led home repair efforts, managed construction projects, and built meaningful connections within the community. ❤️🔨

Established by Bimal and Rajni Malaviya, this award recognizes a graduating RPI Engineering student who demonstrates exceptional scholastic achievement and leadership potential.

Chloe’s impact across research, service, and student leadership has been extraordinary. As Team Lead for RPI’s inaugural Waste Management Education & Research Consortium team, she led the development of an innovative heavy metal removal system, earning multiple awards and securing project funding along the way. 🌎💧

A 2025 Goldwater Scholar, Chloe’s environmental engineering research has resulted in peer-reviewed publications and national presentations focused on water quality and sustainability. 📚✨ She also serves as President of Engineers Without Borders and has made a lasting impact as a Peer Career Advisor, mentoring fellow students with empathy and integrity. 🤝

A recipient of the RPI Founder’s Award, Chloe is recognized not only for her accomplishments, but for the way she uplifts those around her. ❤️
