The University of Arizona School of Music boasts a long and rich tradition in

choral excellence. Nurtured to national prominence from its inception by John Bloom and Maurice Skones, the choral program at the UA continues to be recognized nationally and internationally through the guidance of the director of choral activities, Dr. Miguel Felipe, and the Associate Director of Choral Activities Dr. Elizabeth Schauer. The Graduate Choral Conducting program, with students from every corner of the United States and from many international traditions, features a wealth of conducting experiences in a variety of choral settings and an academic preparation that leads to successful careers in choral music. The curriculum focuses on literature, style, rehearsal techniques, score reading, hearing for the conductor, and problem solving for each level of choir, and is designed to provide the student a thorough knowledge of the choral repertoire. The Symphonic Choir is a select, primarily undergraduate ensemble that carries on a fifty-year tradition of excellence in choral music at The University of Arizona. The group rehearses each weekday and performs formal concerts on campus, in the Tucson metropolitan area and throughout Arizona. The Arizona Choir is the premier choral ensemble in the School of Music and features graduate voice, conducting, and music education students. Composed primarily of graduate students, the Arizona Choir has performed with prominent musical ensembles from around the world including most recently the Kronos Quartet and the Budapest Chamber Orchestra. The Arizona Choir has been featured at regional and national conventions of both the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference. In Tucson alone, many gifted choral students and alumni lead junior and senior high school choral programs, music ministry programs, and community choirs. Moreover, recent DMA graduates now lead choral programs of distinction at colleges and universities throughout the nation. Choral Ensembles:
