We are excited to share that Jonathan Espinosa, a current PhD student in Sociology was named a 2026 Crossing Latinidades Mellon Fellow. The Crossing Latinidades Humanities Research Initiative sparks cross-institutional and cross-regional comparative research, doctoral student training, and innovative scholarship in humanities inquiries about U.S. Latinos.

This class will also highlight contemporary issues related to Mexicana and Chicana empowerment and will utilize an interdisciplinary lens to locate "ordinary" Chicanas' self-determination, knowledges, emotional, spiritual and historical ties with place. We will also explore the growth of public and digital history projects in Mexican American women's history.
