Congratulations to Tianyang Xie, the recipient of this year’s Moshe Dror Research Excellence Award! Named in honor of Dr. Moshe Dror, who retired from Eller as a professor emeritus in 2018, this award is given to an Eller doctoral student whose research is computationally intensive and has had or has potential to make an impact on industry and/or society.

Tianyang’s research interests include machine learning, deep learning, and network science. He completed his PhD this spring and will join Indiana University as an assistant professor in the fall.

Congratulations to Yutong Liu, the recipient of the 2026 James F. LaSalle Teaching Excellence Award!

Each spring, the LaSalle Teaching Excellence Award is given to an MIS graduate student instructor who exemplifies the best of teaching and follows Dr. Jim LaSalle’s example of excellence in the classroom. It was established in honor of Jim LaSalle, who taught at Eller for more than 40 years.
