ASU Office of Community Health, Engagement, and Resiliency As such, we are deeply embedded in communities to promote health, well-being, and resiliency hand-in-hand with our community partners.

ASU’s Office of Community Health, Engagement, and Resiliency’s (ASU OCHER) mission is to co-create interventions with communities that focus on inherent strengths and assets that promote resiliency, especially with underserved communities of color, and to create or strengthen pathways of opportunity for all people to achieve their full potential. complex social problems through partnership in order that we are all stronger, communities are empowered, and together we achieve positive social change.

What helps families stay strong?

These skills or protective factors help families handle challenges and prevent child abuse.

✔️ Parental resilience
✔️ Social connections
✔️ Knowledge of parenting and child development
✔️ Concrete support in times of need
✔️ Social and emotional competence of children

The University of Texas’ Center for Resilient Communities in partnership with ASU offers training for Community Health Workers and health professionals to strengthen these protective factors. April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Every child deserves a story filled with safety, love, and support. This month, we’re turning awareness into action because prevention starts with all of us. Together, we can help write better stories for kids.

The University of Texas' Center for Resilient Communities in partnership with ASU is offering training for Community Health Workers and health professionals focused on practical skills for regulating the nervous system during and after toxic stress and trauma.

These tools don’t just support providers, they empower parents and families in marginalized communities, strengthening resilience and working toward the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
