20 years of a unique summer opportunity for motivated Arizona high school students with a strong interest in interdisciplinary sciences to work with top University of Arizona faculty on research projects that address the world's greatest challenges. "The KEYS program is the most progressive that I have seen in this state to allow students to get real life experience through the research process."

-Jimmy Wojcik, Department of Education, State Supervisor, Biosciences

“I thoroughly enjoyed my lab experience and learned more than I could've hoped for. This program has peaked my interest in pharmacology/toxicology and I will be working in my lab for the rest of the summer -- maybe even throughout the school year!”
-Jonathan Ferng, KEYS 2009 Intern

"One of my fears was spending years studying something I wasn't passionate about. This is where KEYS Summer Internship literally changed my life."
-Juliet Kasaya, KEYS 2008 Intern

"The KEYS program made a profound difference."
- Dr. Andrew Lettes, Pueblo High School Teacher

"I truly believe that KEYS has steered me in the right direction towards fulfilling my educational and professional goals."
-Daniel Sotelo, KEYS 2007 Intern

“Friday I went home able to say I had a truly enjoyable summer…”
-Patrick McCarty, KEYS 2009 Intern

Welcome to the 20th KEYS cohort!

We are excited to celebrate an exciting milestone for the program and the class of 2026.

The 2026 cohort includes 58 high school students representing 8 counties in Arizona. This year, 43 interns are based in Tucson, 5 are in Phoenix, and 10 are participating virtually. Students come from 36 high schools, including 5 students from schools joining KEYS for the first time.

We are thrilled to begin the summer with this incredible group of interns on June 1.

Stay tuned for updates as they begin their research and meet their peers!
