Today, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. recognizes the birthday and enduring legacy of Marcus Mosiah Garvey—a visionary leader whose work helped shape Black social action and the global Pan-African movement.

Garvey championed Black self-determination, economic independence, institution building, cultural pride, and unity among people of African descent around the world. His organizing challenged generations to think beyond individual advancement and consider the collective power of a people working toward their own progress.
His influence can still be felt throughout movements for Black empowerment, economic justice, and Pan-African solidarity.

As a Brotherhood committed to Culture For Service and Service For Humanity, we honor those whose ideas and actions expanded what was possible for our communities.

The Brothers of The LKS and Tau Omicron Sigma Chapter, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc 1914 Chapters were proud to volunteer their time at The Dunbar Pavilion for their annual “Back to School” event. The ABC group organized the handing out of hundreds of backpacks loaded with school supplies and 42 BRAND NEW LAPTOPS to local kids!!! It was an amazing event!!! 💙🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🕊️

The Brothers of LKS Chapter (Tucson, AZ) continue to invest in the next generation.

The chapter recently awarded its 2026 Good Trouble Scholarship, providing two scholarships to support outstanding young Black men pursuing higher education:
- $1,000 Scholarship
- $500 Scholarship

By investing in educational opportunities, Lambda Kappa Sigma is helping remove barriers to college access while empowering future leaders to achieve academic and professional success.

The chapter also demonstrated its commitment to economic empowerment by supporting a Black-owned business, ATL Wings, reinforcing the importance of uplifting our communities through education, partnership, and Black Spend.

The Sigmas of LKS Tucson, Arizona helped a locally owned business, Gym 244 with the 4th Annual “Style Swap” started by The Wmyn’s Collective Organization which helped provide free, new and gently used clothes to those in need in the Tucson Community!!! The business partnered with other local businesses to provide free haircuts, while enjoying local BBQ and listening to some great music!
Sigmas continue to serve our community!!! Thank to ALL the local businesses and community members that made this event possible!!!

All, please join us in mourning, while also celebrating his life, our Brother Mikel Spencer. Brother Spencer was not only a dedicated member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, but he was also instrumental in the reactivation of the LKS Chapter, in Tucson, Arizona. Brother Spencer will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Our prayers, love and condolences go out to his wife Soror Patricia E. Spencer (Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.) and their entire family.

The Sigmas of Southern Arizona had to divide and conquer two events in Tucson this weekend!

Brothers attended the Zeta Phi Beta Oh So Sweet Desert Soirée where they delivered a scholarship to a young, deserving student!

Other Brothers attended the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) Annual Legacy of Excellence Scholarship Banquet.
