With the support of the PORT Team from the UNESCO Creative City of Music of Ipoh, we were able to visit the the Noor Jahan Bakery. The manager of the bakery Mr Mohammed explained that the grandfather of the owner established the bakery in 1910, beginning as a small operation and growing into a large bakery over time. This reflects a long family tradition and over a century of heritage, indicating continuity and community recognition built through multiple generations.

We greatly thank Noor Jahan Bakery for the time they have dedicated to us and we look forward to include the particular story of the kek kelapa (made with the owner’s grandmother recipe with flour and powdered coconut) in Breads of the Creative Cities, Edition 2026.
