Meet our Project Manager, Bryce Shiver!

Bryce is from Headland, AL and is a graduate student pursuing his MS in Mechanical Engineering.

Bryce’s favorite memory from UASPACE is wrapping former president Ethan in Saran Wrap. Bryce is also scuba diving certified. ✨🚀

Three weeks ago our New Member team successfully designed and launched a high altitude balloon Tropospheric Information and Diagnostics Explore (TIDE-1), with a payload based on a 1U CubeSat! Throughout the project, members developed and applied engineering skills, ranging from mechanical design and testing to software development and systems integration.

TIDE-1 Stats:
Max Altitude: 91,000 feet
Flight Time: 100 minutes
Distance: 70 miles (recovered near Berry, AL)

We are so proud of our New Member Lead, Garrett Busch, in being named the fall 2025 Outstanding Co-op Student by the . Garrett worked at Hunt Refining Company in Tuscaloosa where he designed a muffler for compressed air moisture blowdown. We are amazed by his hard work, and we are excited for him to take over as president starting next semester! ⭐️🚀 Roll Tide!

✨🛰️Built in Tuscaloosa, Bound for Orbit✨🛰️  The University of Alabama’s student CubeSat organization, UASPACE, has started from the ground up building BAMA-2. Starting in 2022, our Engineering students have designed, constructed, and perfected our 3U CubeSat testing drag sail deployments in Low Earth Orbit. Our team is pleased to finally announce that we are working closely with towards ensuring we are ready for a manned spaceflight rating for the International Space Station. Our team is excited for the opportunity afforded to us, and we can’t wait for handoff.

Meet our Public Relations and Business Team Officer, Stefanie! Stefanie is from Potomac, MD and is in the Culverhouse of Business school studying Marketing with a minor in Public Relations/Advertising. Stefanie’s favorite part about UASPACE is “utilizing the real world experience gained and implementing it into my everyday life, and working closely with members in other schools on campus.” ✨🚀

Yesterday our team attended Tech or Treat at the Gateway Innovation and Discovery center! We had so much fun getting to meet so many people in the Tuscaloosa community!

We also had our yearly Halloween party with corn hole, music, and a seafood boil! It was so much fun getting to bond with everyone in UASPACE!✨🛰️
