With profound sadness, we mourn the loss of a beloved professor and an extraordinary human being, Dr. Burcu Keskin. Dr. Keskin taught for many years in the Executive MBA program, sharing her passion for Operations Management and inspiring countless minds on the best ways to apply this profound subject.
Dr. Keskin will be deeply missed by alumni, faculty, staff, and peers for her kindness and the light she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy will live on through the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

With great and profound sadness, we share the news that Dr. Burcu Keskin, a beloved colleague and friend and accomplished authority in the operations management and analytics fields, passed away last week.
Her areas of expertise spanned several areas, including supply chain management, inventory theory, facility location, production distribution system design, multi-modal transportation, and human trafficking, with a particular emphasis on applied optimization. Last year, she received The University of Alabama’s Blackmon Moody Outstanding Professor Award for her work on disrupting illicit supply chains.
Dr. Keskin was an accomplished educator who was revered and respected by her students and served as an advisor and mentor to students at every level. She was recognized by INFORMS in 2022 for her efforts as an instructor with the organization’s Prize for the Teaching of OR/MS Practice, which is awarded annually to an educator to recognize excellence in teaching the practice of operations research and management sciences.
A fund has been set up in Dr. Keskin’s name to support students in Culverhouse.
