The USAF Band of the West will be performing at the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center at Tyler Junior College on Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m.

Their Steel of Resolve tour commemorates the 25th anniversary of September 11 through an evening of music, community, and remembrance.

The concert is FREE and open to the public, but ticket reservations are recommended.

WHAT A WAY TO START THE YEAR!

More than 100 TJC Music majors gathered Friday for our first Music Major Meeting of the year!

And what better way for a group of musicians to begin than with MUSIC! Our students were treated to a fantastic performance by consonari, featuring our very own Dr. Kaden Larson and Anna Larson.

It was a great afternoon of music, connection, and looking ahead to everything in store for our students this year.

Tyler Junior College Music Announces Interim Director of Choral Music

The Tyler Junior College Music Department is pleased to announce that Julianne Casey has been appointed Interim Director of Choral Music for the upcoming academic year.

A proud TJC alumna and current Voice Instructor, Casey brings a wealth of professional experience as both a performer and educator. Praised for her "intensity and brilliant vocal color," she has appeared in leading operatic and concert performances throughout the United States and internationally.

She earned her Master of Music from the Mannes School of Music as a Presidential Scholar and holds a Bachelor of Music from SUNY Purchase. Her professional credits include performances with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and the International Performing Arts Institute, with principal roles in La bohème, Le Villi, Suor Angelica, and Pagliacci. She continues to perform throughout the U.S. and abroad, with recent engagements in Bulgaria, Italy, and China.

As Interim Director of Choral Music, Casey will lead the TJC choral program while continuing to invest in the musical and personal growth of our students.

"Leading the choral program at the college where my own musical journey began is both an honor and a privilege. I'm excited to continue building on the strong tradition of excellence at TJC, work alongside our outstanding students and faculty, and make meaningful music together throughout the coming year."

We are incredibly excited to announce that the Tyler Junior College Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the 2027 TMEA Clinic/Convention.

This marks the second time the ensemble has received this honor, and we are grateful for the opportunity to represent Tyler Junior College and our community.

“We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and artistry of our students and faculty, and we look forward to sharing music with colleagues and friends at the convention,” said Jeremy Strickland, Director of Bands.
