You matter. Your voice matters. You are not alone.
September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, an important reminder that sometimes simply having someone to listen, encourage us, or help us feel connected can make a difference.
At Shawnee Community College, we're proud to introduce three students who are helping us strengthen that sense of connection through Shawnee Cares.
Meet our Peer Mental Health Advocates:
⚾ Ethan Powers is a Saints baseball player from Kansas who is passionate about supporting others and creating a welcoming space where students feel comfortable talking and know they're not alone.
🐾 Ambrose Robinson, along with service dog Ridoc, brings lived experience and a passion for advocacy. Ambrose wants fellow students to know that their voices deserve to be heard and that they are never as alone as they may feel.
💛 Braxxton Hunter believes even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference. He wants to be someone fellow students can depend on when they need help, encouragement, or simply someone willing to listen.
Our Peer Mental Health Advocates are part of a larger support system available to Shawnee students.
Need additional support? Shawnee Community College Counselor and Mental Health Coordinator Donna Price is also here to help. Students can reach Donna at 618-634-3322 (office) or 618-306-0960 (cell).

If you see our peer advocates around campus, say hello. Sometimes connection starts with something that simple.
You matter. You belong. Shawnee Cares.
