Saints Kids' Camps are underway at Shawnee Community College. These are some pics from last week's First Responder Camp.

The kids got to practice wrapping, CPR, firefighting skills, and play a round of Bernoperation.

Shawnee Community College nursing faculty recently attended the ACEN Standards in Action Conference in Indianapolis.

Hosted by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the conference provided valuable guidance and insight as our faculty continue preparing SCC's nursing self-study report and upcoming accreditation site visit scheduled for February 2027.

Investing in professional development opportunities like this helps ensure our nursing programs remain strong, current, and focused on student success.

We appreciate our faculty's commitment to excellence and their dedication to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Last night, Shawnee Community College celebrated with the Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony.

This class marks the 1,863rd nursing student to complete the nursing program at SCC.

What an evening!

Last night, we held our first-ever Allied Health and Nursing Pinning Ceremony, honoring completers of the Occupational Therapy, Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Electrocardiogram Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician programs.

Also of note, tonight marked the first OTA class at Shawnee Community College (the program was previously under the SICCM umbrella). We also pinned our first group of EKG technicians.

One more shoutout to Mary Ann Madlock and Anniston Steinmann, who are the first to complete the Patient Care Technician program.

Shawnee Community College medical assistant students are one step closer to Pinning Day on Tuesday.

Recently, the students participated in mock interviews to help prepare them for the next chapter of their journey. The experience gave them an opportunity to sharpen their communication skills, build confidence, and practice for future career opportunities in the healthcare field.

We’re proud of their hard work and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments at Pinning Day this week.

Today marks the start of National Nurses Week, with today being National Nurses Day.

A quick reminder: not all heroes wear capes. The nursing program has been thriving at Shawnee Community College for more than 50 years.

Nearly 2,000 nurses have been 'pinned' at SCC since our first ceremony in 1970. We will celebrate another LPN class next week.
