✨ Paving the Way Spotlight ✨
From sisterhood to storytelling, Amaris Castillo (Beta Gamma Chapter, FA06) continues to pave the way by bringing culture, community, and lived experiences to the page.
A Brooklyn native and daughter of Dominican immigrants, Amaris is the author of Bodega Stories, a creative nonfiction collection exploring the people and stories surrounding her parents’ bodega in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her debut book is set to be released September 8, 2026 by the University Press of Florida. Amaris will be hosting a variety of events in Florida and New York related to her book release.
A former newspaper reporter, Amaris has contributed to publications including The New York Times, Lowell Sun, and Bradenton Herald. She currently serves as a media journalist at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies and lives in the Tampa Bay area with her family.
Through her work, Amaris continues to highlight the stories, people, and communities that deserve to be seen and heard. 📚✨
