ATTENTION CARDINAL FANS: The Cardinal Marching Band would like to highlight our Feature Twirler Captain, Breeanna Bell!

“Being a college student can be a lot at times, but having a support system that lifts you up makes all the difference. One of those supports systems is the Cardinal Marching Band, and being on the homecoming court allowed me to show the most of my red pride for being an education major and being a member of the Cardinal Marching Band.
One of my accomplishments is that I run my own nonprofit organization that shares awareness for reading disabilities. Today, I received confirmation that the State of Michigan recognized my proclamation, declaring October 15th as Reading Disability Awareness Day! This allows for more representation for those who may not always get it. Being able to continue my education while also advocating for those who need it has made me so proud to be a Cardinal!”

The concert will take place on Wednesday, October 21st, 2026, at 7:30PM in the Malcolm Field Theatre, to the left of the Rhea Miller Recital Hall. Ticket reservations are required but are FREE of charge.

We are excited to announce our 2027 Jazz Festival, which will feature Technical Sergeant Seth Brumbach Ebersole of the Airmen of Note! You may remember that Ebersole used to direct the Jazz Ensembles at SVSU, we are thrilled to have him back on campus!

Join us this Saturday for the first of two recitals by our Visiting Artist, Professor Mio Hanabusa from Shikoku University in Japan! Professor Hanabusa is a collaborative pianist with a focus on Japanese arts songs, and will be presenting some of her favorite vocal works along with our some of our vocal faculty and students! Saturday, 9/26 7:30pm Rhea Miller Recital Hall. Free and open to the public!

Attention prospective students: If you are interested in becoming a music or music education major at SVSU in the 2027-2028 school year, you should audition on one of the following 2027 dates: 1/15, 1/29, 2/12, 2/26, 3/26, 4/9. To set up your audition, please call the Music Department office and talk to Kelly McQuarter at 989-964-4159.

If you are not interested in being a music major, you can still join any of the many ensembles we have available (listed on the attached flyer)! If you have questions about a specific ensemble, please call using the number above or email [email protected].
