The Great Lakes Bay Youth Institute has come to an unforgettable finale.💙

Surrounded by proud parents, supportive school representatives, and the incredible young leaders themselves, the night was filled with emotion, reflection, and celebration. Marking the 21st anniversary of GLBRYLI made it all the more meaningful - a milestone honoring years of growth, leadership, and community.

Congratulations to all the juniors who completed this journey. Through this experience, they explored what it truly means to be a leader - developing their own voices, building leadership skills, forming connections with fellow changemakers, and receiving mentorship from SVSU students and staff.

Their hard work, passion, and dedication did not go unnoticed. From showcasing their talents to uplifting one another, these young leaders made the night something truly special.

SVSU is proud. The community is grateful. And the future is brighter because of them. ✨

The Great Lakes Bay Regional Youth Institute was a wonderful success this January, bringing together an inspiring community of students, coaches, and leaders for a truly meaningful experience. Participants enthusiastically engaged in card games centered on diversity, inclusion, and leadership, creating an environment that was both fun and deeply educational. The guest speakers delivered powerful and memorable speeches while offering valuable insight into how coaches can actively support and guide hundreds of students, not just in sports, but through real-life challenges and personal growth. They emphasized the importance of checking up on others, being a positive role model, holding strong values, speaking up when it matters, and developing self-awareness. Through their words and experiences, they shared lasting advice on mastering oneself and motivating those around you, leaving attendees inspired, empowered and ready to lead with purpose.

🌟 During the last session of GLBRYLI at SVSU, students were encouraged to come up with ideas and solutions on how athletes can use their influence to promote better habits and practices regarding boundaries, responsibilities, healthier relations, and community engagement. These ideas helped students think more critically of situations around us and how their practical implementations can be successful.
