As it's the first full week of classes, we thought we'd hear from Bella Giordano, our Academic Director! She oversees Theta academics, holds study hours, and promotes good school habits. She leads by example, and is extremely motivated in school and this position! Just last week, she left out Smarties on the floor to wish our girls good luck with the semester. We are so luck to have her!
Take it away Bella ➡️
Hi everyone, I’m Bella! I am a Junior Biology Major with a Minor in Entrepreneurship. I am from Rochester, New York! As classes are just beginning, I wanted to give you guys my guide to academic success!
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to make connections with your professors! Going to office hours not only allow allows you to get help on assignments, but it lets your professors know that you care and want to form relationship relationships with them.
In my experience, studying with friends and classmates can make studying much more enjoyable! Being able to talk through material with other people can help you memorize easier and gives you an accountability partner. I spent so much time studying with my Theta sisters, and it makes it so much more fun!
The worst thing you can do for yourself as a college student is procrastinating. I try to get my assignments done as soon as I can so that I have more time in my day to do other things like hanging out on the floor, get a coffee, or take a walk around campus!
JCU has so many fun spots around campus that can make doing homework more fun! Although you sometimes need to lock in at the library, studying on the quad, in Saxbys, or taking a quick walk to Biggby, can give you a change of scenery that can make all the difference.
Sometimes looking through your to-do list of assignments can feel dreadful. Make studying fun by listening to your favorite album or getting your favorite Starbucks drinks from the Den This can give you a boost motivation to get things done! I hope everybody has an incredible first semester 😁
